Англо-американская типометрическая система, Пайка (Anglo-American Points)
    Типометрическая система, применяемая в Америке и Великобритании. Предложена в 1879 г. Нельсоном Хоуксом (Nelson Hawks). В этой системе основные единицы измерения пункт [единица измерения шрифта 1 pt \anglo-american points 0,4 мм.] (Point), равный 0,35146 мм (приблизительно 1/72 английского дюйма), и пайка [12 пунктов Дидо] (Pica), равная 12 пунктам. В 80-х гг. ХХ в. фирма Adobe скорректировала величину пункта, сделав его равным точно 1/72 английского дюйма или 0,35278 мм. Компьютерные программы набора и верстки по умолчанию используют англо-американскую систему и пункт Adobe. Таким образом, фактически они стали мировым стандартом в Типографике.
